The chances are greater that you will get at least one extraordinary shoot. Remember to use zoom, so that you will get a large picture of just the baby, you don’t want anything in the background really. You would want to have focus on the face.
If you happen to use your wide angle lens, then don’t go too closely to the baby, this will distort the proportions of the picture. It will also give you a hard light from the flash. Make sure the surroundings are decent and do not steal attention. It could be a good idea to include some natural object to give a sense of proportions. It is important to get good pictures of the eyes, but also so the mouth is visible. Take a break when the baby gets impatient.
