Tips about Underwater Photography – Starting an Amazing Hobby

It is without a doubt that the greatest views can be found underwater. The beauty of underwater life makes scuba diving worthwhile because, honestly, without the view underwater, there’s no point scuba diving. Have you tried scuba diving? Have you experienced thinking, “What I’d give to get a picture of this view!” Fortunately, with underwater photography, you can now take pictures when you go scuba diving. And the best thing about this is that you can take the best and clearest pictures of life underwater!

The Interest on Underwater Photography

More and more people are expressing their interest with underwater photography. This is not surprising because the minute you see a picture taken underwater, you’d probably think, “I’d like to get a shot like this.” So, you shouldn’t wonder why many photographers are going on diving expeditions these days. Coming home with the best underwater shots is simply gratifying. You’d be able to share the wonderful pictures to your friends and family. This is certainly taking your hobby or your profession to new heights.

Starting Underwater Photography

If you are interested with underwater photography, you’ve probably been browsing through websites, reading about equipment and cameras. Learning how to do underwater photography takes time. Perhaps, you can start with reading some information, articles or ebooks on this type of photography.

This takes time though and it’s highly doubtful if you’d learn a lot if you do not practice. Too often, people learn more from practicing than from reading. So do not be afraid to jump and take as many photos as you want. You’d soon learn the tricks of underwater photography.

When you first try this type of photography, you’d probably start with a water-proof camera. This is great for in waters with shallow depths. However, this is not great for much deeper depths. The quality of the photos is not that great as well. Aside from water-proof camera, you could also start with amphibious cameras. This is better for beginners. This is lightweight and compact. It is great for taking pictures underwater. Other than this, you can also try outfitting your camera to suit underwater photography.

This latter option though is quite expensive. However, the pictures this creates are simply breathtaking. Your final option is the digital underwater cameras. These are designed to allow you to take magnificent pictures with less effort. This is a great option if you are just starting.

Taking Pictures Underwater

Regardless of what you choose to use, you can then start taking pictures underwater. Just take as many pictures as you like. You can then compare the photos, take note of the mistakes in one or two, and learn from these mistakes. Here are some tips on how to get the best pictures of underwater photography:

a. Determine your subject and get close to it. What’s amazing about underwater photography is that the objects you’re desirous of photographing is suspended. So, the pictures, if taken correctly, are just amazing.

b. Focus on small underwater objects first.

c. Position your flashgun a good distance away from the camera’s lens axis.

Underwater Photography – A Brand New World for the Photographer

Underwater photography is basically the process of taking photographs while under water. It is usually done while scuba diving, but can also be done while snorkeling or swimming. There are of course a set of equipment that is needed in order to take photographs under water, and the most important thing is to have some sort of waterproof camera. We will talk much more about underwater photography later, now we just enjoy and watch some footage from the sea:
