Photography glamour tips for photographers: When taking a photograph of a model, focus on the eyes. Background is just as important as subject; learn the tricks for manipulating a background. Use filters for effects. Existing light can be used to advantage. So can natural surroundings for the background.

Photography glamour tips for lighting technicians: lighting technicians take their cue from the photographer who directs everything about the set, so listen to the photographer. Understand what he wants to achieve. After that, it’s just basically about knowing your equipment. Photography is all about lighting. That is why lighting technicians are important for a professional glamour shoot.

Photography glamour tips for make up artists and hair stylists: A studio that specializes in glamour photography will have its own team of hair and make up artists. The role of these artists is to make the subjects, the “models”, look glamorous. Cosmetics are the key. Because a camera sees light differently than a normal human eye and a model will be under a lot of lights, makeup should be applied heavily. However, a natural look may still be achieved in the final photo. Be prepared with the powder. Be prepared to retouch.

Glamour Photography Tips and Advice

June 22, 2008 By: PhotoAdmin Category: Glamour Photography 1 Comment →

Photography captures time as they always say. Every special moment in a person’s life are documented by pictures taken specifically for the purpose of capturing the moment and make a lasting remembrance of the occasion. Weddings, birthdays, graduation and all the other milestone in life are being made immortal by photograph because time is captured in a capsule to be forever remembered the way it was portrayed.

Glamour photography enhances everything that is beautiful in the subject whether it’s a person, place, product or any object that the photographer finds interesting or are assigned to make. It’s often used for product endorsement, personal portraits, magazine cover and the like. As glamorous as it sounds, glamour photography is not complicated and all the other basic principles are applied. Here are some practical and important glamour photography tips and advice

The first thing a photographer must ensure is that they should have a trick in their sleeves to make people comfortable in front of the camera. Most people are very much aware of the presence of the camera and are uncomfortable with it, especially if they are not models and like to have glamour pictures of them. When a person is conscious of the camera, the image you will capture is not the one that truly represents the true essence of the subject. And since photography is all about capturing the true essence of a person you must make sure, especially in glamour shots that your subject will be made comfortable before or during the shots.

Another glamour photography tips and advice is that it is best taken in subdued or diffused light so that the focus is on your subject and not on the surrounding or background. Light angle is very important and you should ensure that the light is coming the side or from the top to accent small details of the subject. If you are going to shoot outside then choose a cloudy day or early morning light so that there will no be shadows and to extra warmth to skin. Also make sure that your subject is always brighter than the background so that the focus is centered on your subject and to reduce distraction as well. Don’t worry if your picture will not be sharp, some of the great glamour shots are not.

For close-up glamour shots you can use a wide aperture (low f/stop) so that the background is set out of focus for less distraction of the subject. Commonly, professional photographers use fixed telephoto lens with 90 mm or higher for glamour portraits to de-emphasize the nose or any unflattering features of the subject. This technique works well because no feature of the face is made to seem closer to the camera than the rest of the subject’s face. Another glamour photography tips and advice is to put emphasis on controlling the light contrast so that the subject is not lost in heavy shadows or bright highlights, which is why controlling exposure is imperative to get the perfect tones of your subject’s face.
